About Joan

Joan is currently a full-time student pursuing a Diploma in Fine Arts at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). She has showcased in NAFA's Overseas Immersion Programme: Taiwan exhibition. Given her interest in the creative industry, she has had experience being an art instructor, an assistant producer, and a gallery sitter.

Joan is primarily an oil painter that explores the boundaries of painting by painting on unconventional surfaces. Nostalgia is a key theme in her work, which she uses to express deeper topics of childhood and lost innocence. Stylistically, she employs a surrealistic method, creating a strange, dream-like quality in her paintings which help communicate the immaterial and ephemeral quality of nostalgia.
